The Programme Structure:

Participants undergo rotations between the SARB Head Office in Pretoria and SABN, gaining comprehensive training exposure.

The programme spans 12 months starting in July 2024, with participants receiving remuneration throughout.

Qualifications and Requirements:

Technicians, predominantly students from universities of technology at S4 level, are eligible.

They require 12 months of practical work experience (P1 and P2) to complete their national diploma in electrical, electronic, or mechanical fields. South African citizenship is a prerequisite.

About SARB’s Mandate and Functions:

The primary mandate of the SARB, as per Section 224 of the Constitution of South Africa, is to safeguard the currency’s value, promoting balanced economic growth independently and impartially.

The SARB executes this through various functions:

1. Monetary Policy: Utilizing interest rates to maintain low and stable inflation, preserving the rand’s value.
2. Financial Stability: Identifying and mitigating systemic risks to ensure the stability of the financial system.
3. Prudential Regulation: Regulating financial institutions to enhance their safety and soundness, supporting overall financial stability.
4. Financial Markets: Managing open market operations and reserves to implement monetary policy effectively.
5. Financial Surveillance: Regulating cross-border transactions and ensuring the integrity of the financial system.

The CSD oversees the Work Integrated Learning Programme, offering learnership opportunities for individuals at NQF 4 level, encompassing Grade 12/Matric and National Vocational Certificate Level 4.
