City of Cape Town Learnership: Fire Fighter South Africa
As part of the safety and security initiative, the City of Cape Town presents a Fire Fighter learnership. Successful candidates will secure a permanent Learner Firefighter position upon completing training.
Fire Fighter Learnership In Nkangala
Nkangala District Municipality offers a Fire Fighter Learnership at Kwamhlanga Fire Station. Those with firefighting experience can benefit from the recruitment process, with openings for both experienced and aspiring firefighters.
Remuneration: R104,568/R107,464/R110,520/R113,734/R117,107 per annum (Plus: Contribution to Medical Aid, Pension Fund, Group Life, and Housing Allowance). Monthly stipend of 4000 Rand.

Requirements For Fire Fighter Learnership
- 12th-grade qualification (Mathematics and Physical Science preferred).
- Minimum age of 18.
- Comfort with confined spaces and heights.
- Medical and physical fitness.
- Teamwork and ability to handle stressful situations.
- Clean criminal record.
- Successful completion of Firefighter 1, Hazmat Awareness, Hazmat Operations, and First Aid Level 3 courses.
How To Apply For Fire Fighter Learnership Program
All qualified candidates must pass the following mandatory fitness test:
- Reach test (1.9 m).
- 2.4 km run (Males 11 minutes, Females 13 minutes).
- Push-ups (30 in 60 seconds).
- Sit-ups (30 in 60 seconds).
- Dead load transports (2 x 25 kg drums over 100 m).
Note:
- Written exam and interview are mandatory.
- Submission of fingerprints or identity numbers for criminal record check.
- City medical examination and mandatory drug test.
Special Requirements:
- Non-permanent contract during training.
- Permanent Learner Fire Fighter position post successful training.

- Original National Senior Certificate (NSC: Schools) or National Certificate (NSC: FET Colleges).

- Running shoes and workout gear.
- Participants to bring water and snacks for the day, prepared for any weather.
