Main Purpose of the Job:
To provide professional assistance to patients during admissions and discharges, ensuring operational and financial risks are minimized while surpassing client expectations.

Key Responsibilities:

Accurately process admissions, including pre-admissions and bookings, in accordance with procedures.
Identify and mitigate financial risks by adhering to established policies.
Ensure efficient discharge procedures as outlined in the Patient Administration Manual.
Safeguard patient confidentiality.

Desired Experience:

Experience in reception administration, preferably within a private healthcare facility.

Required Job Skills and Knowledge:

Proficiency in Debtpack Enquiry application for checking outstanding amounts of blacklisted patients.
Familiarity with admission, bed functions, preparation for the next day, and discharge processes.
Knowledge of anatomy, including terminology.
Competence in hospital switchboard systems.
Understanding of Patient Administration policies and procedures, including patient confidentiality, cash handling, dealing with blacklisted patients, bed overrides, etc.
Familiarity with patient admin programs on the AS400 system.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
Knowledge of ICD and CPT codes.
Understanding of Medical Aid Schemes and the private healthcare environment.
Familiarity with Workmans Compensation Act (WCA) processes.
Awareness of emergency/major incident protocols.
Ability to identify potential financial risks, such as blacklisted patients and handling patient valuables.

Main Purpose of Job:
As an Operating Department Assistant, your primary role is to operate as a scrub practitioner, circulator, and anaesthetic assistant under the indirect supervision of a professional nurse. Additionally, you will provide assistance in the recovery room under the direct supervision of a professional nurse.
