About the Role: We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teacher Assistant to join our dynamic and growing educational institution. The Teacher Assistant will play a critical role in supporting educators in the day-to-day activities of the classroom. This position offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the education and development of students across a range of age groups and academic levels. The Teacher Assistant will assist with various teaching duties, provide individual support to students, and ensure a positive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Classroom Support: Assist the lead teacher in preparing and organizing classroom materials, including educational resources, equipment, and activities. Help maintain a clean and orderly classroom environment conducive to learning.

Student Assistance: Provide one-on-one support to students who need extra help with their learning, whether it be academic support, behavioral guidance, or social development.

Lesson Preparation: Aid in preparing lesson plans, resources, and activities. Set up the classroom for lessons, and assist in delivering small group activities or individual learning sessions.

Student Monitoring: Observe and monitor students’ progress, behaviors, and interactions within the classroom. Report any concerns regarding student performance or wellbeing to the teacher.

Supportive Learning Environment: Encourage and maintain positive student behavior by supporting the implementation of classroom management strategies.

Administrative Duties: Assist with grading, recording attendance, keeping student records up-to-date, and other administrative tasks as needed.

Communication: Communicate effectively with students, teachers, and parents. Provide feedback to teachers regarding student performance and any challenges observed.

Extracurricular Activities: Assist with extracurricular activities, including sports, cultural events, and field trips, ensuring student safety and engagement.

Qualifications:

Education: Minimum of a Matric certificate (Grade 12) or equivalent. Further qualifications in education (such as a Teaching Assistant qualification, Early Childhood Education, or similar) would be advantageous.

Experience: Previous experience in a teaching or educational environment is preferred but not essential. Experience working with children or adolescents is an advantage.

Skills:

Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

Ability to work well in a team environment.

Patience, creativity, and adaptability to support diverse learning needs.

Basic knowledge of educational technologies is desirable.

Strong organizational and time-management skills.
