As a Train Assistant, your responsibilities will include:

– Assisting the train driver with brake tests and shunting activities
– Executing safe working procedures in sidings and en route
– Updating vehicle lists and placing/clearing load/empty trucks

– Assisting the train driver during emergency circumstances
– Complying with safety standards and instructions
– Providing accurate feedback to the Train Driver

– Assisting with administration duties
– Completing the Train journal and submitting it to the Section manager

Requirements:

– Grade 12 with pure Mathematics and/or Physical Science
– Be prepared to undergo periodic medical surveillance and safety behavioral risk assessments

– Physical hearing, vision, mental, and fitness (to be verified through medical tests and related safety behavioral risk assessments)
