Job Title: Entries Clerk

Job Purpose:

Bidvest International Logistics is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Entries Clerk to join their team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for tariffing various commodities correctly, framing all types of Bill of Entries, including Ex Bonds, in adherence with all relevant legislation, internal and external policies, and procedures.

Qualifications and Experience:

– Matric / Grade 12 (essential)
– Completion of Customs Affairs courses or equivalent Forwarding Course (advantageous)
– Computer literacy (Microsoft office suite and operating systems that generate Customs Bills of Entry)
– 5 years of experience in entry framing, with experience in framing entries for General Cargo and Automotive Clients

Key Responsibilities:

– Prepare draft Bill of Entry on Cargowise 1 for declaration to Customs
– Receive clearing files/instructions from Business Units/Client

– Ensure completeness of file documentation
– Verify accuracy on clearing documentation
– Submit for internal quality control to ensure correctness before submission of declaration to Customs
– Process Voucher for Correction (VOC) if required

– Batch import files in preparation for EDI upload
– Monitor release
– Print release Bill of Entry and submit to Business Unit
– Provide regular feedback on quality assurance

Skills and Competencies:

– Knowledge:
– Working knowledge of Cargowise
– Knowledge of the “Manual for the Completion and Presentation of Declaration” (advantageous)
– Knowledge of documents required to effect a Clearance to customs
– Skills:
– Ability to tariff classify goods in terms of the GRI
– Enquiring mind and inclination to learn new functions
– Ability to work extended hours as and when required

Job Title: Imports Supervisor (Sea Freight)

Location: Logistics Park Unit 1, Kempton Park, Gauteng, South Africa

Job Type: Permanent

Job Purpose:

Bidvest International Logistics is seeking an experienced Imports Supervisor to join their Sea Freight Imports division. The successful candidate will oversee and coordinate all import activities, ensuring smooth and efficient procedures, accurate paperwork, and timely monetary transactions.

The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, excellent communication, and problem-solving abilities to guide a team and ensure client satisfaction.

Qualifications and Experience:

– Matric / Grade 12 (essential)
– Relevant tertiary qualification (advantageous)
– At least 5 years of experience in Import/Export/Sea Freight/Air Freight
– Experience at a supervisory level or managing a team (essential)
– Excellent computer literacy (Outlook and Excel)

– Dealing with reefer shipments, inspections, and delivery (advantageous)

Key Responsibilities:

– Maximize customer satisfaction through multiple disciplines (Forwarding, invoicing, queries, customs, etc.)
– Manage staff performance reports and client status reports
– Supervise collection of clearance documents and employees responsible for this function

– Ensure Import-related instructions from the Business Unit Manager are attended to
– Attend client visits with the Business Unit Manager/Key Account Manager
– Hold daily meetings with staff to establish if departmental and client objectives are being met
– Manage the Operational Dashboard and reports to ensure departmental KPIs are fully met

– On-the-floor management to ensure staff are on top of their work, problems are identified, and resolved
– Ability to grow and develop staff within the department
– Identify problems and issues before they develop or expose themselves
– Manage complex shipments with controllers and work after hours and on weekends when required

Skills and Competencies:

– Knowledge:
– Excellent geographical knowledge
– Sound working knowledge of Sea Freight & Air Freight Imports processes
– Must be numerate
– Working experience using CargoWise (advantageous)

– Excellent knowledge of the workings of various Ports nationally
– Sound working knowledge of State Vet related documents and the inspection and delivery of these shipments
