Job Description:

RCL Foods is seeking a driven and customer-focused Driver Salesman to join their baking business unit in Durban.

The successful candidate will be responsible for transporting and selling bread and confectionery products, calling on customers, taking orders, and delivering products for cash and acquiring new customers.

Minimum Requirements:

– Matric
– Code 10 license & PDP
– Minimum 3 years truck driving experience in FMCG
– Experience in delivering and selling FMCG products for cash to existing and new customers

Duties and Responsibilities:

– Dress and Vehicle Duties
– Wear prescribed PPE clothing and equipment
– Maintain a clean vehicle and ensure high levels of hygiene standards
– Check vehicle according to company checklist and report faults
– Adhere to statutory rules of the road and report any incidents
– Stock and Loading
– Check actual stock loaded matches orders placed
– Discrepancies to be reported to Despatch Supervisor
– Assist with loading as required
– Van Assistants
– Take responsibility for and supervise van assistant

– Ensure van assistant is presentable and deals with customers appropriately
– Train and coach van assistant to meet company standards
– Sales and Customers
– Be friendly, helpful, and respectful towards customers
– Look for opportunities to increase daily sales

– Report potential or actual customer losses to supervisor
– Deliveries
– Ensure stock delivered to customer is according to their order
– Make arrangements for replenishment of stock if sales exceed actual amounts
– Secure orders for the following day’s delivery

– Transactional Duties
– Secure and safeguard cash, paperwork, and company stock
– Accurately complete and handle transactional documentation

– Forward documentation to relevant personnel/departments for processing
– Accurate recording of route data
– Selling bread at authorized price
– Cash ups to be completed by the driver in the presence of the Cash Up Clerk

– National Diploma in Warehouse/Logistics Management
– 3 years’ experience in a warehouse environment
– SAP/Syspro knowledge
– Knowledge of MS Office
– Sound knowledge of warehousing, distribution, and planning

Duties and Responsibilities:

– Operational Warehouse Management
– Control operational deliverables and expectations
– Approve and oversee warehouse documentation
