We have various vacant posts, including Judge’s Secretary (Ref No: 2024/23/OCJ), which is a 3-year contract position. The successful candidate will be required to sign a performance agreement and meet the following requirements:

These are 3-year contract positions with a salary range of R308 154 – R362 994 per annum (Level 07), plus 37% in lieu of benefits.

GENERAL SECRETARIAL/ADMINISTRATIVE DUTIES
– Managed and typed correspondence, judgments, and orders for the Judge
– Arranged and diarized appointments, meetings, official visits, and made travel and accommodation arrangements
– Ensured the bench book of the Judge was prepared, and files were in court before court started
– Accompanied Judge to circuit court as required
– Ensured all cases were called and recorded as per the court roll
– Safekept court files and court records allocated to the Judge
– Typed judgments and sent them to the Library as required
– Returned court files to the Typists
– Ensured all statistics and Reserved Judgments were reported to the Statistical Officer within the required time frames
– Returned case files to the Registrar
– Cooperated with Judges, supervisors, and co-workers to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the court
– Managed Judge’s vehicle and logbook
– Ensured Judge’s invoices were submitted for S&T claims and cell phone and data claims for processing
– Arranged receptions for the Judge and their visitors and attended to their needs
– Managed Judge’s Library and updated loose-leaf publications
– Executed legal research as directed by the Judge
– Complied with departmental policies, prescripts, procedures, and/or guidelines

The Office of the Chief Justice is seeking a highly skilled and experienced individual to fill the position of Judge’s Secretary (Ref No: 2024/30/OCJ) at the Gauteng Division of the High Court in Pretoria.
This is a three-year contract position with a salary range of R308 154 – R362 994 per annum (Level 07), plus 37% in lieu of benefits.
The successful candidate will be required to sign a performance agreement and will be responsible for providing administrative support to the Judge.
The ideal candidate should have a Matric Certificate, one to three years of secretarial experience or office assistant experience in a legal environment, and a valid driver’s license.
An LLB degree or a minimum of 20 modules completed towards an LLB/BCOM Law degree will serve as an added advantage.
The duties of the Judge’s Secretary include:
