The Eskom Learnership 2023 to 2022 is open to suitably qualified candidates
The Eskom Learnership Programme 2022 is a great opportunity for school-leavers and unemployed individuals from different communities to get involved in.
Not only does the programme form part of the government’s National Skills Development Strategy, but it also has the potential to ease poverty and unemployment rates, as well as enhance the quality of training, education, and development amongst South Africa’s youth – making it a beneficial experience for all those involved.

In order to achieve this, Eskom offers a variety of academic and skills development programs, including learnerships. Beneficiaries from previously disadvantaged communities are primarily targeted by these programs. Eskom aims to maintain its learner base at 12% of its workforce.
As a result, Eskom offers 2 350 learnership programs each year to unemployed youth. In addition to Electrical, Mechanical, Welding, Control and Instrumentation, Fitting & Turning, Heat Pumps, and Administrative programs are available.

Various learnerships are offered by Eskom, which come under the banner of Eskom FET Learners/Learnerships. These include Learner Plant Operators. There are some general rules which apply to all of these learnerships:

Minimum Requirements
- You should, have to be a South African citizen
- Applicants must be in possession of:
- A Standard 10/Grade 12 Certificate with:
- English symbol E or level 3 and above for this
- Mathematics symbol E or level 3 and above for this
- Science symbol E or level 3 and above for this
OR
N3/NCV Level 4 Engineering subjects with:
- English symbol D or level 3 and above
- Mathematics symbol D or level 3 and above
- Science symbol D or level 3 and above
This qualification will enable them to find employment in the electrical engineering sector or pursue further studies in this field.

For further selection, only applicants who meet all the above requirements will be considered. Each financial year, the number of learnership opportunities available determines the annual intake of learners.

How to apply for a Learnership at Eskom?
Eskom offers a range of learnerships for students who wish to gain experience in the electricity industry. The duration of the learnership varies depending on the specific program, but most last between 12 and 18 months. To apply for a learnership at Eskom, you will need to submit an online application form.
In your application, you will be asked to provide personal information such as your name, contact details, and educational qualifications. You will also be asked to attach your CV and any other relevant supporting documents. Once your application has been submitted, it will be reviewed by a panel of experts.
If you are successful in being shortlisted for the role, you will be invited to attend an interview. The interview is used to assess your suitability for the role and give you an opportunity to ask any questions that you may have about the program.
